Durham Bulls Batter Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp With Win After Win at DBAP

The Durham Bulls’ home series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp showcased many causes for celebration: Pride Night, diversity highlights in the form of the Toros Bravos making a return to DBAP, Memorial Day, and win after win as the Bulls thoroughly trounced the Jumbo Shrimp.
Quite the homestandwith Memorial Day, Pride Night, the return of the Toros Bravos, and oh yeah a whole bunch of feasting on Jumbo Shrimp.

There could have been no better start to the series at home against the Jumbo Shrimp than an authoritative 13-2 victory featuring some amazing hits from Bulls at bat.
Bulls first baseman Kyle Manzardo matched a single-game career-high with four hits, including two doubles, while designated hitter Nick Dini homered and center fielder Kameron Misner drove in three runs as Durham smashed a season-high seventeen hits in a 13-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Monday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Bulls scored in six of their eight innings at bat, starting with Manzardo's first hit, an RBI single, in the opening frame. After the Jumbo Shrimp evened the game in the top of the second, Durham countered with a three-spot in the bottom half, highlighted by C Rene Pinto's RBI single.
Both teams would then swap a single tally in the fourth prior to the Bulls’ four-run fourth that featured run-scoring doubles by Manzardo and Dini, in addition to an RBI single by RF Ruben Cardenas to make it 9-2. Misner would later bring across two scores as part of a three-run sixth, before Dini put an exclamation mark on the night with his 406-foot solo homer in the seventh.

A double-header continued the series, in which Durham kept the victory streak going with a sweep of the Jumbo Shrimp, taking game one 3-0 and the second contest 5-2
Bulls designated hitter RubenCardenas knocked a 2-run homer, third baseman Jonathan Aranda drove in a run and RHP Evan McKendry threw seven scoreless innings in Durham's 3-0 victory in game one. Right fielder Ben Gamel and Aranda each drove in a run and third baseman Tristan Gray smashed a 3-run homer in the nightcap for a 5-2 game two victory as the Bulls take their doubleheader on Wednesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Bulls started the scoring in game one with a two-run second-inning homer courtesy of Cardenas, followed by Aranda's RBI single in the same frame. Mckendry (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 SO) allowed only two hits in seven innings to secure the 3-0 shutout for game one. Jacksonville starter Chi Chi Gonzalez (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) suffered the loss.
Both teams went scoreless in the nightcap until the eighth, when Gamel drove in a run to put the Bulls ahead before Jacksonville answered when C Santiago Chavez scored on a fielding error. Aranda recorded his second RBI of the night in the next frame, followed by Gray's 3-run homer which put the Bulls up 5-1.

Game four saw a walk-off taking home the win, with the Bulls winning 6-5 in a tight game showcasing great gamesmanship.
Bulls first baseman Jonathan Aranda recorded two hits and drove in two runs, while left fielder Ben Gamel homered and smashed the game-winning RBI double as Durham earned their fourth straight win in a 6-5 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Entering the last of the ninth tied at 5-5, 2B Vidal Brujan drew a walk and then stole second, before 3B Osleivis Basabe and 1B Kyle Manzardo reached via free passes as well to load the bases and set the scene for Gamel. On a 1-2 pitch with one out, Gamel ripped his game-ending double to right-center to cue the celebration.

Seven scoreless innings pitched by the Bulls in the fifth series game had Durham taking home their fifth straight victory, another dominant performance against Jacksonville.
Tristan Gray homered and the Bulls combined to pitch seven scoreless innings in Durham's 3-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Friday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Manzardo put the Bulls on the board in the fourth, before Gray smashed a homer to extend Durham's lead to 2-0. Basabe drove in one more run to solidiy Durham's 3-0 victory.

Six games, six wins for the Durham Bulls! Saturday night saw a 6-2 win for the home team, thanks in no small part to a thundering grand slam from Niko Hulsizer!
Bulls left fielder Niko Hulsizer smashed a grand slam, while second baseman Vidal Brujan clubbed three hits and drove in two runs as Durham earned their sixth straight win with a 6-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in front of a paid attendance of 9,394 on Saturday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
After the Bulls got on the board first in the third via an RBI groundout, Hulsizer crushed his bases-loaded blast in the subsequent frame to make it 5-0. Brujan would later extend the advantage to six, capping the five-run frame by bashing an RBI double to the left-field wall. Jacksonville in the sixth would narrow the margin to 6-2, however were unable to score from that point on.

With win after win in the books for the Bulls, the final game in the series against Jacksonville finally saw a Jumbo Shrimp win, with a 3-1 defeat on Sunday.
Bulls third baseman Jonathan Aranda recorded an RBI, however Jumbo Shrimp right fielder Peyton Burdick homered and LHP Trevor Rogers threw five scoreless innings as part of his Major League Rehab assignment in Jacksonville's 3-1 win over Durham on Sunday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Jacksonville 2B Xavier Jones scored twice and Burdick homered to put the Jumbo Shrimp up 3-0 in the sixth inning. Durham answered in the same frame when Aranda knocked an RBI single.
Jacksonville lefty Trevor Rogers (5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 SO) earned the victory, while Durham starter Jacob Lopez (4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) suffered the defeat.
